- Day 1:
This is the start of an exciting journey through a country that has so much diversity and beautiful places it will take your breath away. We will give you a warm welcome at the airport and your private driver will bring you to your centrally located hotel in the capital city of Colombia.
- Day 2:
City Tour Bogotá- Today you will visit the historic downtown of Bogotá “La Candelaria” with its magnificent churches, the government palace and the "Plaza Bolivar.” In the morning you will visit a local market where you can try some typical food and various exotic fruits the country has to offer. Furthermore, you will visit the gold museum (closed on Mondays) which holds the biggest collection of gold pieces worldwide and the museum of Botero (closed on Tuesdays) where you can marvel at the many great art works of the famous Colombian artist – for example the “Mona Lisa” in exaggerated shape. Then you will head up the Monserrate hill. The cable car takes you up to the top of Monserrate, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the bustling metropolis of Bogotá. Here you will visit the church which is located on top of the mountain and enjoy an amazing view of the huge capital city. Bogotá is an inspiring city that has something new to offer every day
- Day 3:
Flight to the coffee region & tour visiting coffee farm & factory of production of coffee sweets Now it is time to try the best coffee of the world and get to know Colombia’s coffee plantations. Today you will learn everything about the world of coffee. The entire process - from the bush until the finished cup of coffee – during this unique tour you can experience this process on a coffee plantation first hand. Your coffee expert will share his whole knowledge of coffee with you and will reveal some secrets of planting, harvesting, washing and drying the coffee. Get carried away by the smell and taste of one of the best coffees of the world – the Colombian one! You will also visit a factory of coffee sweets, which are typical for this region and there you will have a small tasting of coffee beans or typical fruits covered in chocolate and many more delicious sweets.
- Day 4:
Visit wax palm forest Valle del Cocora & colonial town Salento. The area of Salento will impress you with great scenery- led by the stunning nature of Valle de Cocora. Wax palms, which are among the highest in the world and can reach a height of up to 70 meters, will catch your attention. Enjoy a walk in this beautiful environment of Colombian´s national tree. You will be taken there by the typical vehicle of this region: the Jeep Willys starting at Salento’s market place. Besides you will visit the small colonial town of Salento, in which you can explore the interesting and ancient architecture and have a delicious lunch and coffee tasting at Café Jesus Martin.
- Day 5:
Today you will head into the direction of Manizales and visit an orchid farm, a farm run by a local family for over 40 years with the largest collection of orchids in Colombia, situated among the mountains, in the heart of the coffee region. Learn about the unique orchid species and enjoy the magnificent scenery.
- Day 6:
In the morning you will take a flight to the Caribbean Coast. Today you will explore Cartagena which is one of the main tourist attractions in Colombia, also known as the "Pearl of the Caribbean" and it is the main destination for culture and history. 1984 Cartagena has been declared as a World Culture Heritage by the UNESCO. The city combines an impressive, modern and colonial architecture created by the Spanish. It preserves the past and the memories of the struggles of that time. During your city tour you will visit two monuments which are of great historical value outside the old city. San Felipe de Barajas is a fortress in order to defend the city. The monastery and the church of La Candelaria on the hill de La Pope are outstanding examples of religious and colonial architecture. From here you will enjoy an amazing view. You will also visit Getsemaní which is the upcoming neighbourhood just around the corner of the historical centre.
- Day 7:
Food, food, food. And so many more other things! Bazurto is a an oddly unique market place where you can get champeta records, urban artists, dancers, the most incredible fruits, and a variety of herbs an medicines. Here you will buy the ingredients for your cooking class. Gastronomy is an important part of the local culture and the Cartageneros are proud of their Caribbean cuisine. Apart from tasting it, what would be better than learning how to cook seafood, coconut rice and other specialties of Cartagena gastronomy? The Chiefs will give us a presentation about the ingredients before they teach us how to prepare typical dishes. The class takes two hours. During lunch, we will have general discussions about what we just learned.
- Day 8:
Today it is time to say goodbye to the beautiful country of Colombia which has surely enchanted you with its diverse, beautiful landscapes and its friendly people. You will head back home with a lot of new impressions and experiences that will last a lifetime! Private transfer to airport Cartagena
